Review: Tracking You (Redwood Ridge #2) by Kelly Moran

Love isn't always loud. Sometimes it's silent.

Gabby Cosette has always been dubbed the good girl of quaint Redwood Ridge, Oregon, and being permanently put in the friend zone has left her dating life stagnant. With no prospects in sight, she clings to her friends and resolves to not let loneliness drag her under. So when the town Battleaxes set their matchmaking sights on her, she figures it can't hurt. Yet the guy they think is perfect for her just happens to be not only her boss at the veterinarian clinic, but her best friend. Sure, Flynn O'Grady is attractive and the nicest guy around, but going there with him would topple both of their carefully constructed worlds and there would be no going back. Even if he is starting to make her girly parts zing.

Having been born deaf, Flynn has already felt like an outsider most of his life. Aside from his brothers, Gabby is about the only person who's gone out of her way to treat him as more than a handicap. Which is exactly why he's banked his secret attraction for his sweet, beautiful vet tech. Except his meddling family is trying to play Cupid and ruin the best thing to ever happen to him. Without Gabby, his work as a veterinarian, never mind his personal life, wouldn't flow. Determined to ignore the antics, he's secure in the knowledge she's not interested in him romantically. But then a kiss changes everything . . . and he's wondering if taking the ultimate shot at love might be worth the risk.

Terri's Thoughts

I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.  Thank you!  The expected publication date is May 23rd, 2017.

Disclaimer:  I have a pre-disposition  to like any book that features a golden retriever on its cover or within its pages.  Fair warning, this story had both.

This was a light easy read that had many items that added to its charm

  • The characters all work in a vet clinic - which in my world makes them all good likeable people.  who doesn't love people who care for animals?
  • A male lead who was deaf - and not to mention sexy.  It isn't often that I come across a lead who is deaf and it was well done.  He was strong, sexy, and did I mention a Vet?  I loved Flynn
  • There was some humour - Although I failed to understand why Flynn didn't like the movie When Harry Met Sally (referenced in the story but not by name).  It is a great movie!
  • The before mentioned golden retriever

This story featured two characters that were made for each other and that it what the storyline focused on.  The chemistry was sizzling, although if I have to be honest, the anticipation leading up to them doing the "deed" felt a little like wash rinse and repeat.  This can be pretty common in this genre so you just keep plugging away until the storyline moves along.

Now to be extremely critical, and this really has nothing to do with the story but is a pet peeve of mine so I feel I do have to mention it.  It bothers me when the physical description of a character does not match what is depicted on the book cover.  In this case, Flynn had strawberry blonde hair and the book cover features a guy with dark hair.  I know it is pretty insignificant however I consider it an attention to detail that should not be overlooked.  It did not impact my enjoyment in any way and I didn't notice until I finished the book, but it is what it is.

Overall a nice light read.  I wish I had read the first in the story however I am assuming there will be a third which I will keep my eyes open for.
